Traveling in the USA is pretty safe compared to Mexico.  Looking at the dangers from first to last are as follows.  Roads are not maintained and drivers are crazy in Mexico.  The cops are corrupt and you don’t want to have a legal problem down there.  If you must travel to Mexico it would be a good idea to get Mexican insurance.  www.visitmexico.com is a good place to plan your trip.  Driving in Mexico at your own rick.  Stay on the major highways and don’t drive at night.  Make sure that you have your passport. Not having your paperwork in order is asking for trouble.
