The capitol city of Germany. I wasn’t sure what to expect going to a place that was at one point the heart of such global turmoil. Just minutes after stepping out of the train station however, you get the distinct feeling that this isn’t the place depicted in war movies. It is a modern city with many different cultures represented. As if to illustrate this in the most poignant way possible, not far away is a McDonald’s. Walking among the old city buildings, statues, and neoclassical churches, you get a real appreciation of the history preserved here. While some of the landmarks are somber reminders of war, most are beautiful examples of centuries of history and culture.
